Nerve Block

EPIDURAL  STEROID INJECTIONS are a commonly performed procedure for the treatment of pain in the spine and limbs. If you have a “pinched nerve” in your low back it can result in pain in the low back and possibly pain and/or numbness down one or both of your legs. After a physical examination, an MRI or CT scan of your low back may confirm the cause of your pain. Epidural steroid injections are a commonly performed procedure to treat this condition. It is procedure that is performed in our office under local anesthesia, and is generally associated with at the most minimal discomfort. Patients can usually return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. These injections may be repeated after a few weeks if the pain persists, and may be done in a series of three visits if the pain is not alleviated by the first or second injection.  Cervical epidural injections are done under x-ray

guidance, and are done at an outpatient surgery center.

OCCIPITAL NERVE BLOCKS are injections to block painful nerve impulses in the back of the head. Patients with Occipital Neuritis often complain of headaches that typically arise from inflammation of the occipital nerves which are located where the head and neck join. This is a simple procedure done in our office, and is associated with minimal discomfort. These injections may be repeated at two week intervals if necessary.

If your Neurologic problem requires other types of more sophisticated nerve blocks, our doctors will refer you to another physician who has expertise in the treatment you require.
